Robin Of Navan lets everyone know he’s in town!
After formally inviting Robin Of Navan by the Hong Kong Jockey Club to run in the prestigious Longines-sponsored international meeting, Harry Dunlop decided to aim him at the Hong Kong Cup, which is worth £2.4m.
A mass of veterinary papers and extensive health checks were completed in the days before Robin Of Navan flew out to Hong Kong with Harry’s wife, Christina. This is her first trip to Hong Kong, so she consulted with Robin Trevor-Jones, Ed Dunlop’s travelling head lad, who has been there many times. He knew exactly what was needed to pack and also had some good travelling tips for the horse.
Robin Of Navan had never flown before and can be quite a noisy type around fellow horses, but he travelled over fine. He stepped of the second lorry a little gingerly but once on the ground strode off neighing at everyone to let them know he was in town!
The Hong Kong International races are on Sunday.
